Our School Council consists of twenty children, two representatives from each class from years two to six. Children nominate themselves for the role and are asked to produce a short speech outlining why they would like to be a class representative and what they can bring to the role. Classes then take part in a concealed vote to elect their two representatives fairly. The role of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are decided by children in a ballot.
During the course of the year, our School Council meet on a fortnightly basis and have worked on many initiatives. Last year School Council helped to run Anti-Bullying Week by providing a presentation for parents; promoted healthy eating by running Healthy House Points; supported Miss Bishop in organising and hosting St. Anne’s Has Talent as well as conducting health and safety checks around the school and taking part in many surveys. In addition to this, our council lead an assembly a term, linked to our SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) topic.
