Joel PrinceAn open letter from Mrs Abrahams and Mr Prince, parents of a child in Year 1.

Dear  All,

As many of you may already know our youngest son, Joel, lost his battle against cancer on Sunday 25th January.
Joel brought so much brightness and joy to us all in his short life. A child, unlike any other, whose smile would light up the room and melt the heart of anyone who saw him. He was intelligent beyond his years, had an intensely caring nature and whose last wish was for those he loved to “Be Happy”.

Joel’s diagnosis was extremely rare and so we have been told that treatment and cure for other children will only be possible with clinical trials, therefore, on the advice of Dr. Stephen Lowis, Joel’s Consultant, we have decided to raise money for research and clinical trials via Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Group (CCLG). The fund has been set up in Joel’s name called ‘Joel Prince Starlight Fund’.

One day a child will recover from this awful disease, sadly for us, that was not our Joel. We have decided to try to bring some hope to those children and families who find themselves going through the same ordeal. The money we raise will be going to support research and clinical trials for Spinal AT/RTs as there are currently none to support this rare type of childhood cancer.

‘Joely Wiglet ‘  – Born: 30/04/2012 – Passed away: 25/01/2015

If you would like to make offline donations, you can send a cheque, payable to Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Group (CCLG), to
University of Leicester,
3rd Floor Bosworth House,
9 Princess Road West,
Registered Charity number 286669

Please include a covering note to let us know that the donation is for Joel’s fund.

If you would like to organise fundraising events for Joel’s fund, CCLG can supply you with materials to support your event (t-shirts and running vests, promotional materials, literature about the charity etc.), plus advice and support – there are some ideas on their website, and you can set up your own Virgin page for your event if you choose. Again, when you’re setting up a page or sending funds, please let CCLG know that money is for Joel’s fund to ensure it is directed accordingly.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please forward this information to anyone you think might like to help.

With Love one and all,

The Prince family

Conrad, Mel and Ethan
