Can you help the Chernobyl Children’s Charity?
As you may be aware, every year the local community host a group of children from Belarus for 4
weeks and some children stay with families in Oldland Common. The accident at the Chernobyl
nuclear power plant in 1986 has left large parts of Belarus contaminated. The children who live in
these areas have to eat food containing toxins, and this is damaging their immune systems. A few
weeks of fresh air and good food can give a great boost to their health, which is why a group of
them come to our area every summer.
The children generally arrive with very few belongings and we are asking for your help to kit them
out. If you have any unwanted clothes, in good condition, suitable for girls or boys aged 9–12, we
would be very grateful if you could send them into school. They will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks for your support.
